After pickup at the Hotel, we will explore the historic area of ​​Funchal. Let’s admire the beautiful church of Nossa Senhora do Socorro. It stands out for being the only baroque church on Madeira Island, in external terms and was born in Madeira after a vote made in 1523 by the population of Funchal due to an outbreak of the plague.

After pickup at the Hotel, we head to the center of Funchal where we can see Praça da Autonomia.

Following our route, we will then pass through the Mercado dos Lavradores. Opened in 1949 in the center of Funchal, the Mercado dos Lavradores is the city’s supply hub. Find here the most famous fresh and tropical products from the Madeira archipelago.

We continue along the roads in the center of Funchal, passing through the Bank of Portugal, stopping at the Sé Cathedral, which has a set of treasures of great beauty and historical value.

We continue our tuktuk ride to the Funchal cable car. Once in the air, this means of transport becomes a moving panoramic viewpoint. The view obtained from one of the cable cars in Madeira is invariably dominated by the colors that define this seaside garden: the blue of the sky, which mixes on the horizon with that of the Atlantic, the green of the tropical flora of the island and the orange of the roofs, which sprinkle practically the entire hillside.

We continue to the Old Town. The Old Town of Funchal boasts a high heritage and architectural value. Between monuments, traditional shops, restaurants and bars, entertainment is guaranteed day and night.

And we finish at the magnificent Fortaleza de São Tiago. Built at the beginning of the 17th century, the Fortaleza de São Tiago, located above the seafront of Zona Velha, was erected to defend the city of Funchal from corsair attacks.
